In short
- Bookmap has a free plan, monthly subscriptions and two lifetime licences, Global and Global Plus1. TurningTrade only sells a lifetime licence today, at 1,499 USD.
- Bookmap reads several futures data providers: BookmapData, dxFeed and Rithmic1. TurningTrade reads Rithmic only.
- At Bookmap, advanced MBO reading goes through the MBO Bundle, a set of add-ons that requires Global or Global Plus and a BookmapData CME or Rithmic MBO feed2. At TurningTrade, the heatmap reads the Rithmic feed at the order level and is one of the modules in the licence.
- Bookmap ships an Intel Mac build and an Apple silicon build3. TurningTrade runs on Apple silicon only, on 0.4.2, behind the Windows version.
The grid, line by line
Every fact about Bookmap points to its official page, read on October 18, 2026. The last column says who wins that line, with no total: depending on how you trade, a single line can decide.

Where Bookmap does better
To learn to read a heatmap without paying, Bookmap has a free plan and monthly subscriptions1; at TurningTrade, only the lifetime licence is on sale today. If you want to try for a month and then decide, that’s Bookmap.
Bookmap accepts several data providers and also covers US stocks and crypto trading1. TurningTrade reads futures through Rithmic, and crypto read-only. If your account is with CQG or Tradovate, TurningTrade doesn’t connect to it yet.
On icebergs, Bookmap already tracks stop and iceberg orders in its MBO Bundle2. TurningTrade’s Iceberg detector is announced and not shipped: today you read a refilling level by eye, on the heatmap and the Time & Sales. Our guide to market by order (MBO) data explains what an order-level feed shows of a refilling level, and what an aggregated feed hides.
Last, Bookmap ships an Intel Mac build3. TurningTrade needs Apple silicon, and its Mac version (0.4.2) lags behind Windows (0.4.9). Details on our futures trading platform for Mac page.
Where TurningTrade stands apart
The heatmap, the footprint, the DOM with Time & Sales Pro and the Market Profile are in the same licence and open in the same platform. You read liquidity on the heatmap, then check on the footprint who hit that price, and where the session built its value area.
ALFRED, the AI assistant, reads what your modules display. Circle a zone on the footprint with the AI Brush and he returns the zone’s volume by price, POC, value area, buy and sell delta, high, low and VWAP, then tells you what the auction did there. He arms the ticket and you click; live order sending is off at install.
The Market Profile lines sessions up side by side with their POC, value area and statistics, and a composite profile on the right.
Switching from Bookmap to TurningTrade, in practice
If your Bookmap feed goes through Rithmic, you keep the same Rithmic account. One precaution: two applications connected to the same Rithmic feed at the same time disconnect the first one4. Close Bookmap’s Rithmic connection before connecting TurningTrade.
Prop firms recognised on Rithmic: Apex Trader Funding, Topstep, My Funded Futures, Tradeify, Phidias, Bulenox, Earn2Trade, TradeDay, Lucid Trading and Take Profit Trader. Each configured account gets its gauge in the top bar: daily loss, drawdown, target, consistency.
Who should stay on Bookmap
If you also trade stocks or crypto with orders, if your account isn’t on Rithmic, if you want to pay monthly, or if iceberg tracking sits at the centre of your read, Bookmap fits better today. If you trade CME futures through Rithmic and want the heatmap, footprint, Market Profile and an AI that reads your screens in one licence, TurningTrade is worth the comparison. If you’re also weighing ATAS, our ATAS alternative page runs the same grid; for the wider field, read our guide to choosing a futures trading platform.
Frequently asked questions
Is TurningTrade cheaper than Bookmap?
It depends which plan you compare. TurningTrade’s lifetime licence costs 1,499 USD; Bookmap sells Global lifetime at $990 and Global Plus lifetime at $1,9901. In both cases market data is extra.
Can I keep my Rithmic account?
Yes. TurningTrade connects natively to Rithmic. Your account, exchange permissions and data fees stay yours. Close any other Rithmic session before connecting.
Does TurningTrade detect icebergs?
Not yet. The Iceberg detector is announced, not shipped. The detectors shipped on the heatmap are Stop-run and Sweep, off by default.
Does TurningTrade run on a Mac?
Yes, natively on Apple silicon Macs (M1 and later) on macOS 11 or later, version 0.4.2. The Windows version is newer (0.4.9).
Do the indicators guarantee a profit?
No. They add order-level context. No indicator removes uncertainty, and futures trading can result in the loss of the capital committed.
